Normally Earth Leakage Detector (ELD) is connected to bus bars of the signaling supply which connects all the circuit powered from these bus bars and insulation resistance of these bus bars is measured with respect to ground. ELD does not measure the IR of individual pair but of the Whole bus bar in the energized condition The function of this instrument is to measure the IR (Insulation Resistances) of the signaling pair (with load and without disconnection) when the signaling pair is in un Unenergized condition.
